One of my absolute favourite television serious of all time is Sex and the City. It holds a nostalgia for me that will never end, mostly because of the beautiful shots of New York City. New York is where my heart is so I felt like a part of me died when they concluded the show in 2004.
One aspect of the programme that will live on was the Fashion. Patricia Fields done an Emmy award winning job on the television series and the movies (not just on SATC but on 'Ugly Betty' and 'The Devil Wears Prada') and has paved the way for amazing fashion to be show cased on the new spin-off show 'The Carrie Diaries'
'The Carrie Diaries' goes back in time and lets us in on Carrie Bradshaw circa 1980's -played by AnnaSophia Robb- before she moved to New York from Castleburry, Connecticut . Every Episode begins with: 'Before there was sex, before there was the city the was me, Carrie. Carrie Bradshaw.'
Season 1 saw a young Carrie, not yet influenced by the atmosphere of the city, or the allure of colour and glamour at her job working at interview magazine- a magazine I modelled my final project off. we see cute jumpers and sweet ballet pumps, outfits you would normally see on a 16 year old. Season 2 on the other hand shows a carrie who is not afraid of colour and expression, the Carrie we know from Sex and the City.
Her are a couple of her bright vivid, print filled ensembles and I've chosen the pics that let you know where you can purchase them for yourselves. Just visit the websites stated.
If the rest of the costume design is as inspirational, eye-catching and provoking as they have been 'The Carrie Diaries' will become a favourite among the fashionistas, just as 'Sex and the City' was and still is.
